This type of clamp is for connecting two pipes that have the same outside diameter.
Reaction block and forced bar for complete inner circle seal and conforms to the pipe upon installation.
This type of clamp does require that the sections being clamped have sufficient lengths of straight pipe leading into it.
This clamp will not work properly if installed too close to a bend.
